Description

Petr Josek is an award-winning stringer for the Associated Press in Prague. He comes from a photographic family, his father Petr is the staff photographer for Reuters. Josek was attracted to photography from a young age and after graduating from high school went directly into the photo business, working as an editor for Spectrum Pictures, a local Prague Photo Agency and stringing for his father at Reuters.

In 2000 Josek earned the AP stringer job with a lot of excellent photographs. He excelled at sports initially, covering the Champion's League, World Championship Hockey, the 2006 World Cup in Germany and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. As Josek gained confidence, he branched out into news photography, going to Baghdad to cover the Iraq war, civil unrest in Budapest and all manner of politics locally and regionally.

Josek speaks perfect English having attended high school in Austin, Texas for a year. He has a working knowledge of German as well. Having grown up in Prague, Josek knows the best places to make iconic pictures of Prague.
