Alain Pierre Hovasse
Profile
- Description
- Alain Pierre Hovasse is one of the leading Canadian newspaper photo editors who for the past three years has been working on the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter games where he is the supervisor of Photo Services. Previously Hovasse was the Director of Photography for the century-old La Presse newspaper in Montreal. He has won more than a dozen Gold Merit Awards from the Society of Newspaper Design for new and extensive use of photographs. Hovasse is also working with other Canadian photographers on the Boreal Forest Project which documents the disappearing Canadian Boreal Forest from the air.
Hovasse worked with photo legend Horst Faas on the book “Requiem: By the Photographers Who Died in Vietnam and Indochina,” which was published in 1997, and on the accompanying exhibition. Hovasse's career has flowed from film to digital and he has remained on the cutting edge while retaining his ability to concentrate on the final product, the image presented to the viewer.
