The Tour

Records indicate a marketplace existed along the Vltava River sometime in the 9th century. With that, people started to set up houses and by the 11th century there was a weekly market held along the banks of the river where military brigades would organize. Of course the market is long-gone but Old Town Square remains and sightseeing is outstanding there among the amazing houses and churches in the area from the 14th century. Some of the most interesting architectural photography is in this part of town.

Why? Perhaps it's because King Vaclav I allowed the town of Prague to become formally established in the 13th century. At that time Prague had tall city walls, a surrounding moat and 13 gates that allowed access to the city. Of course sackings, wars, flooding and fire destoyed a lot of the Old Town during subsequent centuries and old architecture was replaced with new, creating a strange but interesting juxtapostion. Sightseeing here where Cubist houses nestle against Gothic towers which in turn are around the corner from amazing examples of art-deco architecture.

Old Town is the largest area to cover in our photo sightseeing tours of Prague because it stretches from the banks of the Vltava next to the Charles Bridge to the foot of Wenceslas Square and over to the Municipal House. It's easy to get lost while sightseeing in the winding streets, the gothic buildings, the spiring churches and vast town squares. Fortunately your photo guide has a native's knowledge of the Old Town and will show you the most interesting sights to photograph, whether your interest is in architecture, street photography, art, or monuments.

We work our tours on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are the first person to book a tour on a certain date, you can choose which photo sightseeing guide you would like (depending on his professional availability) and what time you would like the tour (sunrise, during the day or sunset) and we'll the rest. If there is already a tour going on your chosen date we'll inform you of which guide is leading the tour and from where it's leaving. We will also pass along phone numbers to the guides so you can make sure to get your tour. If that doesn't suit you, as long as there are two people, you can book your own separate tour.
